20 for 20 Alumni profiles - Mandy Thiery

This week in the 20 for 20 Alumni video series we caught up with alumna @Mandy Thiery. After graduating in 2020, Mandy is now working at Escher Théâtre as a Creative Writer and Assistant to the Management.

Which campuses did you study at?

Walferdange and Belval.

What was your favourite class at Uni.lu? 

"Lëtzebuerger Theatergeschicht". Because it opened a whole new world for me.    

       
The professor who you will never forget and why?

Dieter Heimböckel. I attended at least one class every semester that he was holding. He is the first person that pops into my mind when I think about the University. He guided me a lot during my studies.

Most memorable student event or party?    

 
That was a Halloween party at the student cafe Sandkaul. Everybody was dressed up, there was a DJ playing, some singing and dancing and a lot of drinking.... oh and did you know, there was a pole?       

                                 
Most popular song while you were at Uni.lu?     

"Wrecking Ball" by Miley Cyrus. For a while, my fellow students were showing parody videos of it nearly every day! I think I have seen them all.

Most memorable sports event during your time at Uni.lu? 

I was in the contemporary dance club of the University and we were dancing at the Belval Plaza. I was really nervous but it was fun nonetheless.  

 
Your favourite bar or club in Luxembourg while you were a student?

As I was bartending my whole time as a student, here is a list of my favourite bars to work at or drink at: Liquid Bar, Gudde Wëllen, Aula, Updown, Fabrik (in Mersch), Gotham, Hitch, Rockbox, Rocas, Vis à Vis, Millebières, Brasserie um Tennis.

Your favourite restaurant when you were a student?   

Golden Bean. Chai latte! Chai latte! Chai latte!  

Which Prime Minister, member of the Royal Family, or other VIP did you take a selfie with? 

 
Tessy de Nassau was a good friend of mine. So one day we (my boyfriend back then and I) were invited to eat and I was thinking, that only she would be attending... Then comes in the whole royal family and I am eating with them in my ripped jeans. No picture of it though...
