20 for 20 Alumni profiles - Clémentine Boulanger
This week’s 20 for 20 video features @Clémentine Boulanger. She is a double alumna, having first done a Master in European Economic and Financial Criminal Law before continuing on to do her PhD in Law, both on the Kirchberg campus. Read on to find out that it is possible for a French person to learn Luxembourgish and whether Clémentine and Michael Jordan have anything in common 🤔.
The professor who you will never forget:
Professor Gerkrath for his sense of humor and Professor Riassetto, for the memories we have made during our PhD seminar in Urbana Champaign College of Law Illinois.
Did you learn any new languages at Uni.lu and if you did, which ones?
I learned Luxembourgish at the University!
Most memorable sports event during your time at Uni.lu:
I did the ING marathon in Team run with the FDEF team

Another memorable sports event. Clémentine at a Chicago Bulls game while in Chicago for a PhD seminar.
Your favourite restaurant while you were a student:
I used to eat Thai food at Auchan Kirchberg every Friday during lunch time. That was my tradition.
How did you listen to music when you were a student?
YouTube | Spotify | Apple Music
Most popular social media network while you were at Uni.lu:
One thing that happened in Luxembourg during your student time that you still remember:
The faculty (and the rest of the country) paid tribute to Charlie Hebdo and to the victims of the 13 November terrorist attacks which both took place in Paris. Since I wrote my PhD on how anti-terrorism legislation shaped the social control of the society, those events had a special impact on my thesis.
What was the most important world event that happened while you were a student?
The last months of my PhD, Donald Trump became president.
The question we didn’t ask but you want to answer 😊:
What was your go to music(s) while writing your thesis? During the day I was listening to Tchaikovsky but at night it was Eminem and Snoop Dogg.
